September 5 - Sunday - 11 AM to 1 PM -
Lama Phurbu Tashi Rinpoche will lead the meditation and give a short
Dharma talk.
Following is a brief biography of Lama Phurbu Tashi Rinpoche:
Born in Tibet in 1973, Lama received his early monastic education at the
Karma Kagyu Gangkar Monastery near his home village. He later attended
the Palpung Monastery College for two years. He then assumed the
tradition of a traveling, meditation-practicing monk who studied with
several masters in India, Sikkim and Nepal. Lama eventually attended the
Nalanda Institute in India and achieved excellent success as a Buddhist
scholar. At the invitation of a western friend, he lived in Switzerland
for a short time in 1999. With renewed dedication, Lama entered the
traditional 3-year, 3-month and 3-day retreat with V.V. Bokar Rinpoche,
disciple of the great Kalu Rinpoche of the Shangpa Kagyu Lineage, which
was brought to the West by Kalu Rinpoche. Upon completion of the
retreat, Lama began teaching in Switzerland, France, Indonesia, China
and so on. Lama made his way to the USA and is now residing and teaching
in the Annapolis, MD area. Check out his website at

"After spending many years of study in Buddhist monasteries in Tibet and
India, I decided to travel extensively over the past decade to teach and
share my little knowledge of the profound wisdom teachings with those
people who were open-minded and interested in the teachings. I traveled
to many countries around the world and had many great opportunities to
teach the Dharma. One of the things I realized is that it is very
important for Dharma students/practitioners to come together in a
community to maintain this wisdom tradition. As a spiritual community,
we provide mutual support, inspiration, encouragement, and knowledge to
one another. " Forwarded by Lama Phurbu Tashi Rinpoche
